Here at Clear Hearts we’re in the business of finding cool shit for people who don’t have the time (or maybe cant be arsed, aint no shame in that). You might have seen the phrase “little black book” on this site. This is a magical book of Kick-ass suppliers. Now as much as we like to keep the Clear Hearts secrets for our couples, we are happy to share with you some of our very favourites to make your wedding planner journey easier.
So I (Michaela) am going to direct you to one of the coolest ladies in the bespoke jacket game. On my first styled shoot, see previous blog post, I knew I NEEDED to have leather jackets and they needed to be some cool shit to stand out. It had to be Born To Thread, a beautiful bespoke designer label with rock n roll influences! The photo below is testament to why I chose her work. This shoot has now been featured on Mrs P&P and Way Out Wedding!
Born to Thread began with super cool Bridie (founder, designer) in her workshop in Ripon, North Yorkshire. She’s a pink haired wonder and part of the rise of young designers in a world craving less fast fashion, she had this to say about how she got started.
“I fell interested in the wedding world about 2 years ago now when I made my first bespoke wedding dress for a lady. I found I really enjoyed making it so I decided, why not have a try at the wedding route and I’ve not looked back since.”
We LOVE a good alternative wedding, it is literally our business and Bridie gets excited about that too. At Born to Thread their focus is bespoke quality regardless of how “bonkers” your idea is. Her absolutely perfect wedding would be:
“I love alternative weddings so a wedding along those lines would be amazing to work with especially working along side a bride who has wonderful ideas on her outfit and letting me be part of it and creating it for her.”
OMG look at this bridal vest! Points if you know what the theme is.
So I’m sure you’ve noticed, dear reader, that leather jackets for weddings have become very popular! Bridie offers a completely bespoke service working closely with the couple to really create something special to you! It’s just not about spending £1,000’s on your dress and then scrimping on outer wear. At my own wedding I wore a coat in a majority of the pics (beach, February, Brighton… say no more).
The next step for Born to Thread is to keep kicking ass and taking orders. She can’t wait to meet y’all in 2018 for another year of cool collaborations and exciting weddings.
Side note: I recently collaborated on a shoot which featured a BEAUTIFUL cape and realised this was by Born To Thread. Get in touch below and see if she can help you realise all your garment dreams, as well rockin’ jackets.
